Hello Everyone. When watching any motion work, one of the most appealing factors for me is an overall flow and movements between the video parts. Video could have the most beautiful visuals in the world, but if the whole flow is not well established, it turns down the quality by some degree. This is exactly where this topic comes from - video flow and transitions between the scenes. While there are countless ways to make this to work out beautifully, I will share two common scenarios and introduce why one could work better over the other.
- Layers placed in a bigger comp, which flow is animated.
- Layers placed inside a huge resolution single comp(1), which is animated inside main-comp
Understanding and nailing down these two techniques can help you to enhance motion storytelling by a huge degree. Don’t rely only on wipe effects no more and leave boring transitions for beginners to practice. Don’t have anything against those either, they can be good for many occasions. But personally for me, the more flowing and connected item relations are, the better. I know this seems rather simple, but there are more reasons behind this.
